With the background of self-hat redness in view of the dehumanizing effects of the traditional practices of untouchability SODARA educational program aims at instilling of a sense of self-acceptance, self-recognition and self confidence in the individuals apart from developing leadership qualities and skills to transform their socio-economic conditions. The following program would cater to the educational needs of the non-school going, drop-outs, illiterates, orphans and unemployed in the slums and villages. Early Childhood Centre’s with 25 Children of 3-6 years old at each Centre following Play Way and Kindergarten methodology will be run. The centers are expected to bring revolutionary changes in the young minds by transforming their traditional inferiority complex to self-acceptance, self-confidence and positive thinking. The first target is to run 20 such centers and increase the number as per the need and feasibility. Non-Formal Education Centre’s with 25 drop-out and non-school going children in the age group of 6 to 15 in the government model of Sarva Siksha Abyan to prepare them to be absorbed into appropriate levels of schooling in the formal system.

Special Academic Coaching programme envisions to would complement the poor classroom teaching helping academically weak students to grasp fully the completed portions and to be regular in doing the homework and making personal study of the portions. The academically weak students from classes upto 4 will be handled by 1 teacher, the students of classes 5 to 7 will be cared for by 2 teachers while students of above class 7 will be taught and supervised by 4 teachers since various subjects will have to be handled by their respective expert teachers. Organised and supervised studies will be a part of the programme. The local team would be arrange to cover the students in the nearby villages and hamlets also. National/State Open School system more or less in the similar lines will be run for securing academic certificate for the drop-out students who may not be able to re-join the formal school syste due to their over-age or lack of interest.Adult Education/Job-Orientation programme would organise literacy, awareness and leadership training programmes with job-orientation courses with the internationally reputed action-reflection-actionmethodology.

The basic approach for the so-called instructors would be to consider that the adults, although illiterate do have much knowledge and experience and they should be respected. Starting point is to draw out simple words from their own life situations and the known words and symbols are scripted. Care is taken to elicit simple words without first introducing to them all formal alphabets and numerous prolongated or mixed letters. Everyday the learners would be happy that they master about 10 news words for reading and writing. However, greater involvement would be by awareness programme by discussion and analysis of the situation. Leadership training will be extended through discussion and by sharing of responsibilities. Further, they will be enabled to acquire a skill that would help them to take upincome generation programmes or to secure jobs with wages that should meet their normal expenses. After one year’s programme, the candidates would be able to use functional literacy well and would be able to start income generation programme or to secure jobs that would fetch liveable wages. Training of and awareness programme through cultural troupes and mass media centres to promote and develop valuable cultural traditions and create awareness on the need for national integration and communal harmony. Village libraries with reading centres and recreation facilities like indoor games, News Papers, T. V. sets etc
