Aims and Objectives

With this vision and the motivating inspirations of “The creation of human beings in the image and likeness of God” (Gen 1:26), Integration of Jivatama i.e. human soul with Paramatma i.e. Divine Soul (Hindu Religious Teaching), “Manava Seva Madhava Seva” i.e. Service to humanity is service to God (India’s social dictum), Recognising God in the least, last and lost ones (Mt. 25:45), Nazareth Manifesto, “He has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to the captives, to give sight to the blind, to heal the broken-hearted and to set the oppressed free”, (Lk 4:18), Social Teachings of the Churches and Organisations and St. Montfort’s own concern for and commitment to the poor, “The poor are God’s chosen lots, they are Christ himself”, SODARA set the following Aims and Objectives at its foundation.

Aims and Objectives of SODARA

  • To promote Communal Harmony and National Integration to attain Universal Brotherhood with special emphasis on Developmental Education and Rural Action.
  • To promote an awareness of the ill effects of social evils and to initiate programmes, projects and movements to fight alcoholism, drug addiction, untouchability, dowry etc.
  • To create awareness among the poor sections of the community, especially in rural areas about their legal rights and obligations.
  • To promote self-confidence and leadership among the youth, the poor, minorities and weaker sections of the society at large.
  • To endeavour for the betterment of minorities and to give full meaning and content to Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution of India.
  • o create strong public opinion for environmental protection and harmony between nature and man.
  • To promote human and spiritual values and to study the areas of unity of spiritual values in various Sacred Scriptures and Faiths without prejudice to the ideals of secularism and to article 5 above.
